A Bite of CU

This project is called A Bite of Columbia University. Our research goal is to conduct an evaluation and accessibility analysis of all the restaurants that are within the 1-mile walking distance from Columbia University. We collect data from Yelp by BeautifulSoup and a total of 255 restaurants are sorted out inside the study area. Collected variables of the restaurants include names, price, cuisine types, customer satisfaction, and reviews origins, and the comments on the first page of the restaurant’s page.

We conducted three levels of evaluations and analysis: First, is the descriptive and inferential statistics based on the variables collected from the dataset; Second is mapping and displaying their proximity to public transportation facilities, their opening hours, and the ‘global‘ attractiveness of the restaurants; Third is the microlevel study of nine chosen high-rate restaurants catered for three types of students: the night owls, the morning birds, and the club lovers.
